Joonas Korpisalo replaced Merzlikins between the pipes.
Merzlikins entered Monday's contest with a .922 save percentage and a 2.37 goals-against average in 31 games. The 25-year-old rookie became the sixth goalie in the last 90 years to record five shutouts across an eight-game span earlier in February.
Korpisalo has been stellar, too, posting a .913 save percentage and a 2.49 goals-against average in 32 games entering Monday.
