Musty slipped from No. 11 to No. 14 on Central Scouting's final ranking of North American skaters, but it wasn't due to a lack of production.

He was the highest-scoring draft-eligible player in the OHL on a per-game basis in 2022-23. Musty's 78 points in 53 contests put him on pace for 100 points had he played a full season, which he wasn't able to do thanks to a hand injury in January. Even while missing 15 games, he led the Sudbury Wolves in assists, and he was second on the team in goals and points behind Seattle Kraken prospect David Goyette.

Musty has pedigree as a top prospect, too, having been drafted first overall in the 2021 OHL draft by Sudbury.

The New York native has represented the U.S. once on the international stage, coming at the 2022 Hlinka Gretzky Cup. Playing on a squad without the top American players from the U.S. NTDP, Musty led the team in scoring with five points.

Musty will return to the OHL with Sudbury next season.

What they're saying

"He's a big, strong, sturdy, athletic, net-driven winger with slick puckhandling skill one-on-one and a balanced skater's stride," The Athletic's Scott Wheeler wrote. "The raw potential is there in spades, and the production caught up to it as his season progressed."

"Fantastic puck skill in tight quarters and around the net," wrote Sportsnet's Jason Bukala. "Most impactful when his team has already established possession in the offensive zone. Not a transition threat. Explosiveness and open ice separation need to improve for the NHL game."

"He's a one-way winger, which, combined with his so-so skating ability, is a concern for higher levels," The Athletic's Corey Pronman wrote. "There may be times you want more from him, but I think he will score so much that he will be a top-six wing."
