Kings' Kaliyev suspended 2 preseason, 2 regular-season games for kneeing
Los Angeles Kings forward Arthur Kaliyev has been suspended two preseason and two regular-season games for kneeing Anaheim Ducks forward Chase De Leo, the NHL Department of Player Safety announced Thursday.
Kaliyev was assessed a minor penalty during the second period of Tuesday's contest for the collision.
De Leo left the game and didn't return. The Ducks later announced that he'll miss eight weeks with an MCL sprain.
The Department of Player Safety noted the injury as a factor in determining the length of the suspension.
Kaliyev hadn't been suspended in his 137-game NHL career. He was fined in April 2022 for cross-checking Ducks defenseman Josh Mahura.
The 22-year-old tallied 13 goals and 28 points in 56 games last season.
De Leo, 27, has played in seven career NHL games across five campaigns.
