Bruins' Lauko avoids serious injury, Lucic out a couple of weeks
A pair of Boston Bruins forwards will be unavailable for a handful of games.
Milan Lucic is sidelined for a couple of weeks with a foot fracture, while Jakub Lauko is expected to miss a week with a facial fracture, head coach Jim Montgomery told Boston.com's Conor Ryan.
Lauko was struck in the face by Chicago Blackhawks forward Jason Dickinson's skate Tuesday.
He immediately left the ice and didn't return to the contest. The 23-year-old has played in all six of Boston's games this season and has yet to register a point.
Lauko was humorous about the situation Wednesday, posting on X, formerly known as Twitter:
Lucic was injured when hit by teammate Derek Forbort's shot. The 35-year-old has two assists in four contests in his return to the Bruins this season.
With Lucic and Lauko injured, the Bruins have 11 available forwards on the roster. Boston has just over $1.2 million of cap space to recall a player from the AHL's Providence Bruins before Thursday's clash against the Anaheim Ducks.
