The Philadelphia Flyers acquired defenseman Erik Johnson from the Buffalo Sabres for a 2024 fourth-round pick, the teams announced.
Johnson, 35, has three goals and no assists in 50 games this season. The Flyers are taking on his full $3.25-million cap hit.
The veteran rearguard signed a one-year deal with the Sabres this past summer after playing 13 campaigns with the Colorado Avalanche.
Johnson won the Stanley Cup in 2022. He's accumulated 55 career playoff games - all with Colorado - and has produced five goals and 13 points.
The 2006 first overall pick has played 970 games in his 16-year NHL career, tallying 91 goals and 340 points.
