McDavid back vs. Sharks after missing 3 games
Edmonton Oilers superstar Connor McDavid is returning to the lineup against the San Jose Sharks, he told reporters Monday, according to The Athletic's Daniel Nugent-Bowman.
McDavid missed three games with a lower-body injury. He last played on April 6 against the Calgary Flames.
The 27-year-old has 130 points in 74 games to rank third in league scoring. McDavid is one assist away from becoming the fourth player in NHL history to tally 100 assists in a single season. He'd be the first to do so since Wayne Gretzky in 1990-91.
Tampa Bay Lightning star Nikita Kucherov also plays Monday and is two assists away from accomplishing the feat.
An Oilers loss in any fashion against the Sharks would see the Vancouver Canucks clinch the top seed in the Pacific Division.
Edmonton has two games remaining after Monday's contest. The Oilers face the Arizona Coyotes on Wednesday and close out the regular season Thursday versus the Colorado Avalanche.
