Rangers, Lindgren avoid arbitration with 1-year, reported $4.5M deal
The New York Rangers and defenseman Ryan Lindgren steered clear of the arbitration process by settling on a one-year contract, the club announced Tuesday.
The pact is worth $4.5 million, according to Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman. It will walk Lindgren to unrestricted free agency in 2025. He was a restricted free agent.
Lindgren has served a steadying defensive presence alongside Adam Fox for the last five seasons. He tallied 17 points in 76 games in 2023-24 while averaging 19:21 per contest.
Ryan Lindgren, signed 1x$4.5M by NYR, is a defensive defenceman. Has previously graded out as a decent enough middle pairing player but that changed this year as the model saw him as a big drag on his partner Adam Fox. #NYR pic.twitter.com/FCn66HlkEO

The Rangers acquired Lindgren in the 2018 trade that sent Rick Nash to the Boston Bruins.
New York has just $623,000 in cap space remaining with all of its RFAs signed.
