Ryan Getzlaf has found a new venture in his post-playing career.

The Anaheim Ducks legend is joining the NHL Department of Player Safety, the league announced Wednesday.

"We are thrilled to welcome Ryan as the newest member of our department," senior vice president of player safety George Parros said. "His accomplishments on the ice speak for themselves: He won at every level and was widely respected for being a hard-nosed and highly skilled player and effective leader.

"From his rookie NHL season in 2005 until his recent retirement, he lived and played through many of the changes our game has seen, which will provide our group with unique and valuable perspective."

Parros and Getzlaf were teammates for six seasons with the Ducks.

Getzlaf had been working with the Ducks in player development since his retirement in 2022.

He recorded 1,019 points in 1,157 games during his illustrious 17-year NHL career, all of which was spent in Anaheim. Getzlaf helped the Ducks capture the 2007 Stanley Cup and served as team captain for 12 seasons.

The Regina, Saskatchewan, native also won pair of Olympic gold medals, a World Cup, and a world junior gold on the international stage.

Getzlaf was notably never suspended during his playing career.
