Canucks trade Podkolzin to Oilers for 4th-round pick
The Vancouver Canucks traded forward Vasily Podkolzin to the Edmonton Oilers for a 2025 fourth-round pick, the teams announced Sunday.
The draft pick originally belonged to the Ottawa Senators.
The Canucks selected Podkolzin 10th overall in the 2019 NHL Draft.
Podkolzin failed to build on a promising 2021-22 rookie season in which he tallied 14 goals and 12 assists in 79 games. He's registered just nine points across 58 NHL appearances in the two campaigns since.
He'll bring some speed to the Oilers' lineup, though his underlying results haven't been great.

The 23-year-old has two years remaining on his contract with an average annual value of $1 million. He'll be a restricted free agent at the end of the deal and won't become unrestricted until 2028.
Podkolzin could replace Dylan Holloway, whom the St. Louis Blues signed to an offer sheet Tuesday. The Blues also signed Oilers defenseman Philip Broberg to an offer sheet on the same day. Edmonton has until Tuesday morning to match.
