The San Jose Sharks placed rookie Macklin Celebrini on injured reserve, the team announced Saturday.

The 2024 first overall pick is week-to-week with a lower-body injury, according to SJ Hockey Now's Sheng Peng. Celebrini will miss at least seven days from his last game, which keeps him out of San Jose's lineup for a minimum of three contests. He's eligible to return on Oct. 18 against the Winnipeg Jets.

Celebrini netted his first goal and picked up an assist versus the St. Louis Blues on Thursday. The Sharks blew a 4-1 lead in the third frame and lost in overtime.

The Sharks recalled defenseman Jack Thompson with Celebrini's roster spot opened up.
