Kaprizov out vs. Flames with lower-body injury
Minnesota Wild star Kirill Kaprizov won't play against the Calgary Flames on Saturday because of a lower-body injury, the team announced.
Kaprizov went knee-on-knee with Edmonton Oilers forward Drake Caggiula on Thursday. The 27-year-old briefly left the game but returned to finish the contest.
Wild head coach John Hynes said Friday that Kaprizov "for sure" avoided a major injury on the collision, according to Star Tribune Sports' Sarah McLellan.
Kaprizov has 13 goals and 34 points in 19 games this season. He's tied for the NHL lead with Colorado Avalanche star Nathan MacKinnon and paces the Wild by 14 points.
The Russian will be evaluated in Minnesota on Sunday, The Athletic's Michael Russo reports.
Wild forward Marat Khusnutdinov is also out with a lower-body injury.
