Auston Matthews scored an electric overtime winner to give the Toronto Maple Leafs an improbable 2-1 victory over the New Jersey Devils on Tuesday night.

Anthony Stolarz - a native of New Jersey - stole the game, frankly, as Toronto was outshot 39-16. He saved 3.57 goals above expected, per Money Puck.

"Best goaltending in the league on the other side of the ice," Devils head coach Sheldon Keefe said postgame, per Sportsnet's Luke Fox.

Stolarz now owns a .928 save percentage on the season. He entered the evening third in the NHL with a .924 mark.

The Devils didn't solve Stolarz until the second period when Ondrej Palat ripped one under his blocker. Pontus Holmberg responded for the Maple Leafs with a shorthanded tally through Jacob Markstrom's five-hole to cap a wild sequence.

The game also featured no shortage of physicality. Max Pacioretty notably laid out Jack Hughes late in the second period.

Matthew Knies also clobbered Johnathan Kovacevic from behind with a questionable hit that resulted in a two-minute minor.

The Maple Leafs snapped their two-game losing streak with the victory.
