Elias Pettersson didn't return to the Vancouver Canucks' 4-3 win over the San Jose Sharks on Monday with an undisclosed injury.

Pettersson got banged up, tried to play in the third period, and didn't feel right, head coach Rick Tocchet said, according to The Athletic's Harman Dayal.

"We've got the break," Tocchet added, according to Sportsnet's Brendan Batchelor. "I don't think it's too bad. We'll see how it is."

The Swedish forward's final shift came at 3:14 of the last frame. He tallied two goals in a 44-second span in the second period.

Petterson was named the game's first star but didn't take to the ice in front of the Vancouver crowd after the contest.

The 26-year-old now has 10 goals and 28 points in 34 games this season. He had gone six contests without a point before Monday's action.

The Canucks are 17-10-7 on the campaign with 41 points and currently hold the first wild-card spot in the Western Conference.
