Blue Jackets place Monahan on injured reserve

The Columbus Blue Jackets placed first-line center Sean Monahan on injured reserve, the team announced Thursday.
Monahan suffered an upper-body injury Tuesday against the Pittsburgh Penguins. The move to IR means he'll miss at least a week.
The 30-year-old has been a terrific offseason free-agent addition, tallying 14 goals and 27 assists through 41 games this season.
Columbus will look to centers Cole Sillinger and Adam Fantilli to step up in Monahan's absence.
The Blue Jackets recalled Owen Sillinger - Cole's brother - from the AHL on an emergency basis in a corresponding move.
