Boston Bruins defenseman Charlie McAvoy is being shut down for a few games with a nagging injury, interim head coach Joe Sacco said Tuesday, per Boston Sports Journal's Joe Haggerty.

The Bruins placed McAvoy on injured reserve amidst a flurry of moves. They also placed Mark Kastelic on IR, moved Hampus Lindholm to long-term IR, and recalled Matt Poitras and Michael Callahan from the AHL.

McAvoy played 21:54 in Boston's last game, a 4-3 overtime win over the Florida Panthers. The 27-year-old leads all Bruins skaters in average time on ice (23:41) and paces all Boston defenders with 20 points this season.
