Heiskanen week-to-week after collision with Stone, out of 4 Nations
Dallas Stars defenseman Miro Heiskanen is considered week-to-week with a lower-body injury, head coach Peter DeBoer told reporters Thursday, according to the Dallas Morning News' Lia Assimakopoulos.
Heiskanen has officially been ruled out for the upcoming 4 Nations Face-Off, Finland announced.
The 25-year-old sustained the injury when Vegas Golden Knights forward Mark Stone awkwardly took him down in Tuesday's game.
Heiskanen is leading Stars defenders with 25 points in 50 games this season. He's playing 25:10 per contest to rank sixth league-wide.
Stone received a two-minute minor for tripping on the play.
"I go to reach to try and angle him out, and I'm not sure who it was that tripped me, and I fell forward," Stone said postgame, per The Athletic's Jesse Granger. "You never want to see guys get hurt, and I hope he's all right. I was trying to make a play and got tripped into him."
Only 11 Finnish blue-liners have played in the NHL this season. Jani Hakanpaa, named to Finland's roster in December, has suited up for just two games with the Toronto Maple Leafs this campaign and is sidelined with a lower-body injury.
The Stars are second in the Central Division with 65 points.
