Canada survives Finland's late push to set up USA rematch in 4 Nations final
Canada survived Finland's late push to win 5-3 on Monday and clinched a spot in the 4 Nations Face-Off championship game against the United States.
The Canadians jumped out to a 3-0 lead with first-period goals from Connor McDavid, Nathan MacKinnon, and Brayden Point. MacKinnon added another in the second frame.
Esa Lindell ended Jordan Binnington's shutout bid with 6:41 left in the third. Mikael Granlund gave Canada a late scare with two goals 23 seconds apart in the final two minutes of the game to get Finland within one. Canada captain Sidney Crosby ended the comeback effort with an empty-netter.
Binnington made 24 saves for Canada. Kevin Lankinen was pulled by Finland after allowing four goals on 13 shots, while Juuse Saros stopped all 14 shots he saw in relief.
