The Boston Bruins are fielding offers for captain Brad Marchand, according to The Athletic's Chris Johnston.

While the Bruins are open to potentially dealing their captain prior to Friday's trade deadline, both sides are still engaged in extension negotiations, Johnston notes.

Marchand is an unrestricted free agent this summer. However, he recently stated he's not interested in a trade to a contender because he believes he already plays for one. Boston is currently three points back of a wild-card spot in the Eastern Conference with three teams ahead.

The Bruins haven't missed the playoffs since 2015-16.

Marchand is sidelined week-to-week with an upper-body injury he sustained March 1. He's notched 47 points in 61 games this season and was part of Canada's championship roster at the 4 Nations Face-Off in February.

The 36-year-old has a reputation for elevating his game in the playoffs, making him a potentially attractive add for teams chasing a championship. Marchand has 138 points in 157 career playoff games and won a Stanley Cup in 2011.
