Pettersson exits loss vs. Rangers with undisclosed injury
Forward Elias Pettersson didn't return to the Vancouver Canucks' 5-3 loss against the New York Rangers after the second period due to an undisclosed injury.
Pettersson had 15 goals and 45 points entering Saturday's contest. He missed six games earlier in the season with an undisclosed injury.
The 26-year-old has rounded into form recently with three goals and nine points in his last six games.
Forward Nils Hoglander also didn't return due to injury. He has six goals and 21 points in 65 contests.
Head coach Rick Tocchet wasn't optimistic about having either player for Monday's game against the New Jersey Devils.
"If you had to ask me now, (they) would probably be doubtful, but we're going to have to call somebody up. ... We'll have to get a (center) up here," the bench boss told reporters postgame.
The Canucks sit three points out of the second Western Conference wild-card spot behind the St. Louis Blues, who defeated the Chicago Blackhawks 4-1 on Saturday. The Blues have played one more game than Vancouver.
The Canucks are in the midst of a six-game road trip that started with a 4-3 overtime loss to the Blues on Thursday.
