Connor McDavid is back.

The Edmonton Oilers captain returned to the lineup Wednesday against the St. Louis Blues after missing the last eight games with a lower-body injury.

McDavid tallied three assists in the 4-3 victory, setting up Connor Brown's game-winner with 21 seconds remaining in regulation.

Ryan Nugent-Hopkins didn't play in the contest due to an illness, and defenseman Jake Walman was also a late scratch. Edmonton only dressed 17 skaters.

The Oilers went 4-4-0 in McDavid's absence and were 1-4-0 in contests both McDavid and Leon Draisaitl missed. The latter remains out with a lower-body injury but is expected to return before the playoffs.

Edmonton also continues to be without Trent Frederic, Mattias Ekholm, and Stuart Skinner due to injuries.

McDavid, a five-time Art Ross Trophy winner, has recorded 26 goals and 67 assists in 64 outings this season. His 93 points are tied for sixth in the NHL, even though he missed 14 games due to injury.
