Wild sign Hobey Baker finalist Buium to entry-level contract
Zeev Buium is turning pro.
The Minnesota Wild signed their top prospect to a three-year, entry-level contract, the team announced Sunday.
Buium's NCAA season ended Thursday when Denver lost to eventual Frozen Four champion Western Michigan in the semifinals.
The Wild selected the defenseman 12th overall in the 2024 draft. Buium is coming off an impressive college career in which he tallied 98 points in 83 games across two seasons with the Pioneers. He helped Denver win the 2024 national championship and was a 2025 Hobey Baker Award finalist.
Buium also helped the United States capture back-to-back gold medals at the World Junior Championship in 2024 and 2025, recording five goals and six assists in 14 games across the two tournaments.
The 19-year-old could be in Minnesota's lineup as early as Tuesday's season finale against the Anaheim Ducks.
