Montreal Canadiens defenseman David Savard confirmed Friday that he'll hang up his skates following the 2025 postseason, according to TVA Sports' Renaud Lavoie.
The 34-year-old is in the last year of his contract.
Savard began his career with the Blue Jackets, establishing himself as a physical, shutdown defenseman during a 10-year run in Columbus. He was traded to Tampa Bay ahead of the 2021 deadline and helped the Lightning win their second of back-to-back Stanley Cups.
A native of St. Hyacinthe, Quebec - about an hour drive from Montreal - Savard has spent the last four seasons with the Canadiens. He joined the team as a free agent in 2021.
Savard will end his career with 242 points in 870 regular-season games across 14 seasons.
