Canadiens' Montembeault day-to-day, Dobes starts Game 4
Montreal Canadiens goaltender Sam Montembeault is considered day-to-day with the undisclosed injury he suffered in Game 3 against the Washington Capitals, head coach Martin St. Louis announced, according to Sportsnet's Eric Engels.
Jakub Dobes, who relieved Montembeault in Game 3, will start Sunday's Game 4. Cayden Primeau was recalled from the AHL and will serve as the backup.
Montembeault has posted a .908 save percentage in the series. He appeared in 62 games during the regular season, recording a .901 save percentage and stopping 30.79 goals saved above expected - the third-best mark in the league, per Evolving-Hockey.
Dobes stopped seven of eight shots in relief to earn the win in Game 3. The 23-year-old rookie registered a .909 save percentage in 16 appearances during the regular season, saving 7.38 goals above expected.
Dobes would be the first rookie goalie to start a playoff game for the Canadiens since Dustin Tokarski in 2014.
Montreal trails the Round 1 series 2-1.
