Blues GM Armstrong: Krug unlikely to play again
St. Louis Blues defenseman Torey Krug's playing career is likely over, general manager Doug Armstrong said Tuesday, according to NHL.com's Lou Korac.
Krug had subtalar fusion surgery on his ankle before the season. It was the same procedure that Tiger Woods had in 2023 to address post-traumatic arthritis in the wake of the golfer's 2021 car accident.
Krug, 34, had attempted to rehabilitate the pre-arthritic changes in his ankle through nonsurgical conventions, which could've allowed him to return at some point during the campaign.
Krug previously explained that his ankle issues stemmed from an injury sustained during the second round of the 2018 playoffs while he was playing for the Boston Bruins.
The Michigan native has totaled 89 goals and 483 points in his 778-game NHL career with the Bruins and Blues.
