The Chicago Blackhawks are open to trading the third overall pick in the 2025 NHL Draft, Daily Faceoff's Frank Seravalli reports.

Chicago is willing to be aggressive to use the pick to pursue more immediate help if the right deal presents itself, Seravalli adds.

The Blackhawks boast one of the NHL's deepest farm systems. They've made eight first-round picks in the last three drafts.

Year Overall Player Position
2024 2 Artyom Levshunov D
2024 18 Sacha Boisvert C
2024 27 Marek Vanacker LW
2023 1 Connor Bedard C
2023 19 Oliver Moore C
2022 7 Kevin Korchinski D
2022 13 Frank Nazar C
2022 25 Sam Rinzel D

The Blackhawks also own the 25th pick in this year's draft as part of the 2023 Jake McCabe trade with the Toronto Maple Leafs. They have two first-rounders in 2026: their own, plus the Florida Panthers' selection as part of the Seth Jones trade.

Chicago hasn't made the playoffs since 2020. Its 25-46-11 record in 2024-25 was the second worst in the NHL, finishing only ahead of the San Jose Sharks.

Forwards Anton Frondell, Caleb Desnoyers, and Porter Martone are among the possible options for the Blackhawks at third overall if they end up holding on to the pick.
