Bruins re-sign Jokiharju to 3-year pact, Beecher to 1-year deal
The Boston Bruins re-signed defenseman Henri Jokiharju to a three-year contract with a $3-million cap hit and forward John Beecher to a one-year pact worth $900,000, the team announced Monday.
Jokiharju tallied four assists in 18 games and averaged over 21 minutes after being acquired by Boston before the trade deadline from the Buffalo Sabres. He totaled three goals and 10 points in 60 contests between both teams last year.
The 26-year-old was set to become an unrestricted free agent Tuesday.
Jokiharju notched a career-high with 20 points in 74 games in 2023-24. The right-handed rearguard represented Finland at the 4 Nations Face-Off in February.
Beecher recorded three goals and 11 points in 78 games this season, primarily playing on the Bruins' fourth line. He registered seven goals and 10 points in 52 games in 2023-24 as a rookie.
The 24-year-old was a pending restricted free agent.
The Bruins also re-upped goaltender Michael DiPietro on a two-year contract with a $812,500 cap hit. The 26-year-old won AHL Goaltender of the Year after posting a .927 save percentage in 40 appearances.
