Ducks reel in Granlund on 3-year deal worth reported $21M
The Anaheim Ducks signed forward Mikael Granlund to a three-year contract, the team announced Tuesday.
The pact carries an average annual value of $7 million, reports TSN's Pierre LeBrun.
Granlund tallied 22 goals and 44 assists in 83 games split between the San Jose Sharks and Dallas Stars last season. He also added 10 points in 18 playoff appearances with Dallas.
It was the fifth time Granlund reached the 60-point mark in his 13-year career. He notched a career-high 69 points in 2016-17 with the Minnesota Wild.
Granlund is capable of playing all three forward positions, giving the Ducks a versatile chess piece up front. The 33-year-old will also provide another veteran presence to a young forward group led by Mason McTavish, Leo Carlsson, and Cutter Gauthier. Granlund is now tied for the team's highest-paid forward with Troy Terry. Defenseman Jacob Trouba ($8 million) is Anaheim's top earner.
The Ducks still have $28.9 million left in cap space, though McTavish and starting goaltender Lukas Dostal are restricted free agents in need of new deals.
