The Winnipeg Jets will welcome captain Adam Lowry back to the ice Tuesday against the Los Angeles Kings, and they're also hoping to ensure he'll be in the lineup for years to come.

The Jets and Lowry are "super motivated" to get a contract extension over the finish line, TSN's Darren Dreger reports. It's been a priority for a while for Winnipeg to get Lowry signed to a "longer-term" deal, Dreger adds.

Lowry is in the final season of a five-year, $16.25-million contract signed back in 2021. The Jets drafted Lowry in the third round in 2011 and he's spent his entire career in Winnipeg. He was named captain in 2023.

The 32-year-old scored a career-high 16 goals last season and finished top-10 in Selke Trophy voting for the second consecutive campaign.

Lowry missed the start of the 2025-26 season after undergoing hip surgery in May.
