Oilers coach: McDavid 'wasn't going to let us lose' vs. Blue Jackets
Edmonton Oilers head coach Kris Knoblauch offered high praise for Connor McDavid's performance in Monday's 5-4 overtime win against the Columbus Blue Jackets.
"Connor wasn't going to let us lose tonight," Knoblauch told reporters postgame. "He was so focused on getting the job done. I've seen Connor rise to the occasion and play some tremendous games. I'm not going to say this was his best game I've seen him play, but under the circumstances, it's right up there. He was so determined to get the job done."
McDavid played a pivotal role in Edmonton's comeback with two third-period goals - each cutting the deficit to one. His first tally was a highlight-reel spin-o-rama.

For his second goal, McDavid took a neutral-zone feed from Evan Bouchard and turned on the jets to blow past the Blue Jackets' defense.

"It was huge, obviously," Bouchard said postgame. "When you see your leader doing that, it pushes you to follow in his footsteps. He got two big goals, it's just what he does."
McDavid notably challenged the Oilers to raise their game after getting embarrassed 9-1 by the Colorado Avalanche on Saturday, stating that "enough is enough." It's safe to say the captain lived up to his end of the bargain.
"There was just so much determination to his game, like 'it's not gonna happen again tonight,'" Knoblauch added. "He just willed the team to win."
McDavid is tied for fourth in league scoring with 24 points in 17 games.
