Texier signs 1-year deal with Habs after terminating Blues contract
The Montreal Canadiens signed forward Alexandre Texier to a one-year contract worth $1 million, the team announced Sunday.
Texier mutually terminated his contract with the St. Louis Blues after clearing waivers earlier Sunday. He was in the final year of his deal at a $2.1-million cap hit. He'll be a restricted free agent next summer.
The 26-year-old has one assist in eight games this season. Texier notched six goals and 11 points in 31 contests last campaign in his first year with the Blues.
Texier tallied a career-high 12 goals and 30 points in 78 games with the Columbus Blue Jackets in 2023-24. He's accumulated 40 goals and 91 points in 240 career contests over seven seasons between the Blue Jackets and Blues.
Texier is the only French player currently in the NHL. He was one of six named to France's men's Olympic roster in June.
