The Toronto Maple Leafs relieved assistant coach Marc Savard of his duties Monday.

Savard ran a Leafs power play that sits last in the NHL with a 13.3% success rate this season despite boasting stars such as Auston Matthews, William Nylander, and John Tavares.

Toronto hired Savard in June 2024 to join head coach Craig Berube's staff. In his first season, the team's power play finished 16th at 21.4%.

The Leafs' struggles on the man advantage are one of the main reasons the organization is underperforming. The club currently sits last in the Atlantic Division after finishing first during the 2024-25 campaign and making the playoffs for a ninth straight season - a streak that appears in jeopardy.
