Oilers place Pickard on waivers
The Edmonton Oilers placed goalie Calvin Pickard on waivers, the team announced Sunday.
Pickard has been the odd man out among an Oilers goalie group that also features Tristan Jarry and Connor Ingram.
He hasn't played since Jan. 8, posting a .871 save percentage and a 5-6-2 record across 13 starts and 16 appearances.
The 33-year-old described his situation with the Oilers this season as "tough" and "painful" to Sportsnet's Mark Spector in January.
Pickard made three appearances in last year's Stanley Cup Final but has since become Edmonton's third-string goalie after the club made moves to improve the position. The Oilers acquired Ingram in a trade with the Utah Mammoth last October and then brought in Jarry in a deal that sent former starting netminder Stuart Skinner to the Pittsburgh Penguins.
