Golden Knights acquire Dowd for 2 picks, prospect
The Vegas Golden Knights acquired forward Nic Dowd from the Washington Capitals for goaltender Jesper Vikman, a 2027 third-round pick, and a 2029 second-round pick, the teams announced Thursday.
The third-rounder originally belonged to the San Jose Sharks.
Signed through next season at a $3-million cap hit, Dowd has four goals and 16 points in 55 contests in 2025-26. His 2:40 shorthanded ice time per game ranks 10th among all NHL forwards this campaign.
Dowd tallied a career-high 14 goals and 27 points in 82 contests last season. He's racked up 88 goals and 192 points in 637 career games with the Los Angeles Kings, Vancouver Canucks, and Capitals.
The Alabama native also has four goals and six points in 40 total playoff games, all with Washington.
The Golden Knights acquired forward Cole Smith from the Nashville Predators on Tuesday for defenseman Christoffer Sedoff and a 2028 third-round pick.
Vikman has an .866 save percentage and a 3.41 goals against average in 18 games this season with the AHL's Henderson Silver Knights. The 23-year-old was drafted 125th overall by Vegas in 2020.
The trade deadline is Friday at 3 p.m. ET.
