The Toronto Maple Leafs hired Judd Brackett as their assistant general manager, the team announced Monday.

Brackett spent the past five seasons as the Minnesota Wild's director of amateur scouting and previously served as a scout for the Vancouver Canucks for 12 years.

The new hire marks general manager John Chayka's first addition to Toronto's front office since joining the team in May.

"(Brackett) has established one of the strongest amateur scouting and drafting track records in the NHL and has consistently demonstrated an ability to adapt and evolve his approach as the game changes," Chayka said in a statement. "As we continue to build our hockey operations department, Judd will play a key role in integrating traditional scouting, video analysis, and data-driven insights to strengthen our decision-making process."

The Maple Leafs parted ways with assistant general managers Brandon Pridham and Derek Clancey last month. Pridham was with the organization for 12 years, while former general manager Brad Treliving brought Clancey aboard.

Toronto is still searching for a head coach to replace Craig Berube, who the Leafs dismissed this offseason after finishing 28th in the league standings.
