Toronto Maple Leafs forward John Tavares didn't return to Thursday's loss against the Buffalo Sabres after an awkward collision with forward Josh Norris.
Tavares seemingly took a stick up high and fell to the ice early in the third period. Leafs head coach Jim Hiller didn't provide an update on Tavares' condition postgame, according to Sportsnet's Luke Fox.

Tavares has two goals and seven points through seven games, including two assists Thursday.
The 36-year-old played all 82 games last season while recording 31 goals and 71 points. He's missed only 12 regular-season games since 2020.
The Leafs are already without forwards Max Domi and Dakota Joshua, plus defenseman Chris Tanev, due to injuries.
