Brad Richardson wants a clean bill of health as he enters the free agent market and the forward is taking precautions to assure this.
The 30-year-old, who spent 2014-15 with the Vancouver Canucks, will undergo ankle surgery Monday, reports News1130 Sports.
Richardson was bothered by ankle issues in the latter half of the season, only managing to appear in 45 games, scoring eight goals and adding 13 assists in the process.
He's finishing out a two-year deal that paid him $2.3 million - $1.15 million per season - with the Canucks.
