Montreal Canadiens goaltender Carey Price won the Hart Memorial Trophy as the league's most valuable player at the NHL Awards in Las Vegas on Wednesday night.
Price's career year helped the Canadiens post their best season since 1988-89 while setting a franchise record in wins. He became the first goaltender since Ed Belfour in 1990-91 to lead the league in wins (44), goals-against average (1.96) and save percentage (.933) while lifting Montreal to an Atlantic Division title.
Price is the first goaltender to win both the Hart Trophy and the Vezina Trophy in the same year since Canadiens netminder Jose Theodore in 2001-02. He also took home the Ted Lindsay Award as the most outstanding player as voted by the players.
