Penguins trade Rob Scuderi to Blackhawks for Trevor Daley

The Pittsburgh Penguins were focused on more than just their game against the Washington Capitals on Monday night.

The Penguins traded defenseman Rob Scuderi to the Chicago Blackhawks for fellow blue-liner Trevor Daley.

"We've been talking about it for a while," Penguins general manager Jim Rutherford said after a 4-1 loss to the Capitals. "We like Trevor. He can skate and can move the puck."

Scuderi had four points and an even-strength Corsi For percentage of 46.7 in 25 games, and was scratched from Monday's defeat.

The 36-year-old is in the penultimate season of a four-year, $13.5-million deal signed in 2013.

The Penguins will retain 33 percent of Scuderi's salary, ESPN's Pierre LeBrun reports.

Daley was acquired by the Blackhawks from the Dallas Stars in the Patrick Sharp trade over the summer. Daley had six points and an even-strengh Corsi For percentage of 55.6 in 29 games with Chicago.

He also has two years remaining on his contract, at $3.3 million per season.
