Patrick Kane's point streak ends at 26 games

Patrick Kane's historic point streak has finally come to an end.

The Colorado Avalanche defeated the Chicago Blackhawks 3-0 on Tuesday, halting Kane's streak at 26 games, the longest among all active NHL players.

It's the longest point streak ever by an American player, and it was the longest single-season stretch since Mats Sundin's 30-game point streak in 1992-93.

Kane's impressive streak spanned over a two-month period, starting on Oct. 17 when he scored a goal against the Columbus Blue Jackets. He scored 16 goals and 24 assists during his run, while the Blackhawks went 15-7-4 over the 26 games.

The 27-year-old sits atop the league with 19 goals and 27 assists in 32 games.
