Rio 2016 may just be getting started Saturday, but for French gymnast Samir Ait Said, it's already over in an extremely graphic fashion.
Participating in the vault, Said's left leg snapped on his vault landing, leaving the crowd of spectators recoiling in horror. His foot and lower part of his shin immediately flopped to the side and medical personnel rushed to his aid.
After several minutes under the care of the medical staff, Said was stretchered off the floor and taken from the arena to the cheers of the crowd.
Warning: The image of the injury is very graphic.
