Etenesh Diro's desire to succeed in Rio was on full display Saturday when the Ethiopian finished the Olympic steeplechase with one shoe.

After Diro took a tumble on the back straight, the 25-year-old attempted to resolve an issue with her shoe until deciding to throw her sneaker away.
Amazingly, Diro managed to beat 10 other opponents with just one shoe when she finished the race in seventh place.
After initially failing to qualify for the final, the Ethiopian was rewarded (following a protest by her team and two others) with a place in Monday's final.
