Huske came from behind to out-touch Walsh and Chinese swimmer Yufei Zhang at the wall. This is Huske's second Olympics, after previously finishing fourth in the 100m butterfly in the 2020 Tokyo Games and winning silver in the 100m relay. Canadian Maggie Mac Neil, the gold medalist in the event in Tokyo, finished Sunday's race in fifth.
Huske and Walsh will both compete in the 100m freestyle later this week. Both swimmers were a part of the 100m relay squad, which earned silver for the second Olympics in a row.
