Swimmer Katie Ledecky and rower Nick Mead will share flag-bearer duties during the Olympic closing ceremony, the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Committee announced Thursday.

The organization chose Ledecky and Mead based on a vote by Team USA athletes. Ledecky and Mead both won gold at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Ledecky is a four-time Olympian with 14 Olympic medals to her name. In Paris, she scored her fourth consecutive gold in the 800m freestyle and set an Olympic record to top the podium in the 1500m freestyle. Ledecky is the most decorated female swimmer in Olympic history and is tied with Soviet Union's Larisa Latynina for the most gold for a female Olympian.

Mead won gold in men's four rowing in Paris, the first U.S. medal in the discipline since the 1960 Rome Olympics. He also finished fourth in the men's eight in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

The closing ceremony takes place Sunday at 3 p.m. ET.
