Hideki Matsuyama continues to ride ridiculous heater

It was just five days ago that Hideki Matsuyama lit up the golfing world with an insane 61 in the final round at Firestone, and the Japanese sensation was at it again Friday.

The 25-year-old dipped into the low numbers once again, this time firing a 7-under 64 at the PGA Championship to sit tied for the lead with Kevin Kisner at 8-under.

Matsuyama's 64 included seven birdies and no bogeys, adding to his six birdies from Thursday's opening round. A quick examination of his last 36 holes at Firestone last week and his first 36 holes at Quail Hollow this week show just how much of a heater he's really on.

With five PGA Tour wins already, Matsuyama is no stranger to success in the golfing world, and he's had numerous close calls at major championships in the past. This year's US Open at Erin Hills was the closest he's been to winning a major, as he fired a 6-under 66 to finish tied for second.

The good news for Matsuyama is that history is on his side as he attempts to win his first major. There's only been two players in the last 15 years at the PGA Championship to shoot bogey-free 64's, and they ended up faring pretty well on the weekend.
