Report: Woods, Els to be named 2019 Presidents Cup captains
Tiger Woods will captain the U.S. team at the 2019 Presidents Cup in Melbourne, Australia, while Ernie Els will captain the International team, according to a report from Alex Miceli of The Morning Read.
An official announcement is expected to be made on Tuesday.
The Americans have been dominant against non-European International golfers, as they own a 10-1-1 record at the Presidents Cup, including a 19-11 victory at Liberty National in New Jersey last year.
Ironically enough, the only tie in the event's history occurred when Woods and Els faced off in a playoff to decide the 2003 Presidents Cup, but after three playoff holes, the match was called due to darkness.
Woods is fresh off his best performance in quite some time, finishing tied for second at the Valspar Championship this past weekend. Els, a native of South Africa, finished tied for 64th at the tournament.
