Sloan, Varner, Hoge share Wyndham lead as weather suspends Round 1
The PGA Tour suspended the first round of the Wyndham Championship due to weather with Roger Sloan, Harold Varner III, and Tom Hoge atop the leaderboard at 8-under par.
Each leader had a reasonable chance at breaking 60. Sloan birdied six of his first eight holes, but the Canadian bogeyed No. 9 and added only three more birdies on the back nine. Hoge needed to go 2-under on holes 17 and 18 for 59 but finished them at 1-over. Varner had a bogey-free 62 but didn't make birdie on any of his final three holes.
Harris English sits in fourth at 6-under, followed by eight golfers in a tie for fifth at 5-under. Three of those eight - Talor Gooch, Hank Lebioda, and Ryan Brehm - were unable to finish their rounds due to the weather.
Play is set to resume Friday at 7:30 a.m. ET at Sedgefield Country Club in Greensboro, North Carolina.
