The first round of The Players Championship has resumed after a lengthy delay of over four hours due to thunderstorms in the area around TPC Sawgrass.
After an hour delay to start play Thursday, half the field began their round during a break in the rain. Unfortunately, thunderstorms passing through the area saw the need to remove the players from the course.
Tommy Fleetwood, Will Zalatoris, and Harold Varner III currently hold the lead at 4-under over a number of players at 3-under, including Patrick Reed.
While the morning wave of players will return to the course to complete their rounds, the afternoon tee times will commence at 4:50 p.m. with the groups playing as many holes as possible before darkness halts play.
