Report: DeChambeau, Reed joining LIV Golf

LIV Golf has apparently lured away another pair of major winners.

2020 U.S. Open winner Bryson DeChambeau and 2018 Masters champion Patrick Reed are joining the Saudi-backed rival golf tour, sources told Sports Illustrated's Bob Harig.

DeChambeau and Reed signed on for multiple years and will take part in the series' first United States-based event beginning June 30 at Pumpkin Ridge Golf Club near Portland, Oregon, according to Harig.

There are plans for future announcements during LIV Golf's inaugural event this week at Centurion Club outside of London, England, Harig added.

DeChambeau vowed his loyalty to the PGA TOUR back in February.

"While there has been a lot of speculation surrounding my support for another tour, I want to make it very clear that as long as the best players in the world are playing the PGA TOUR, so will I," he said.

It was reported then that LIV Golf offered DeChambeau $135 million to join.

At 28 years old, DeChambeau is the youngest star to bolt for the rival circuit. Reed isn't far behind at 31.

The headliners to previously commit to LIV Golf are older, such as Dustin Johnson (37), Sergio Garcia (42), and Phil Mickelson (51).

DeChambeau has endured an injury-riddled 2022 campaign. He's played in just six tournaments this calendar year and missed the cut in four of them, including his last three events. He underwent wrist surgery in April.
