Zalatoris withdraws from Rocket Mortgage Classic with back injury
Will Zalatoris withdrew from the third round of the Rocket Mortgage Classic on Saturday due to a back injury, the PGA TOUR announced.
Zalatoris felt a "pop" in his hip, he told CBS' Amanda Balionis.
Zalatoris was 3-over par through eight holes during his round Saturday before withdrawing. He birdied his final hole. He shot a 66 on Thursday and a 71 on Friday.
The 27-year-old missed the majority of the 2023 season after undergoing back surgery. He also had back surgery for herniated discs at the end of the 2022 campaign.
Zalatoris finished T9 at the 2024 Masters but hasn't finished better than T41 in any tournament since.
The 2021 PGA TOUR Rookie of the Year finished as the runner-up at the 2021 Masters, the 2022 PGA Championship, and the 2022 U.S. Open. He has one career PGA TOUR victory: the 2022 FedEx St. Jude Championship.
