Add Scottie Scheffler to the growing list of players who have nearly made an improbable ace on the short par-4 14th at Quail Hollow this week.
Scheffler took advantage of the tees being moved up 40 yards Saturday, roping a 3-wood from 304 yards to just under 3 feet for the easy eagle.
The brilliant tee shot came after a bogey and moved him to 8-under to sit tied with then-clubhouse leader Alex Noren.
Scheffler clearly gained some momentum from the eagle, as he would card three birdies over the final four holes to take a three-stoke lead to the final round.
